As an award-winning publicist-turned-agent, I understand what makes the book trade sit up and listen, how to capture readers’ attention and how to best support authors through their publishing journey.

of CAROLYN
With a career that has spanned publishing, literary charities and bookselling, I have extensive knowledge and contacts within the book industry and have been lucky enough to work with some of the UK’s most renowned authors.
I take great pride in nurturing author relationships, whether it’s supporting debut authors in their first forays into the public eye, or advocating for bestselling authors at the highest level.

A lifelong advocate of books and all they inspire, I am passionate about promoting voices that deserve to be heard. I value authenticity, honesty and loyalty above all else - being conscientious and empathetic is at the heart of everything I do and I pride myself on having a collaborative approach.
I hold two MAs with Distinction in both Children’s Literature and Publishing, as well as a Publishers’ Publicity Circle Award.
THE MAY STORY...
why May?
The May Literary Agency is named in honour of the women in my family who have made me who I am today.
But fundamentally, the word “may” holds promise of all that might come to be, and it is this possibility that the agency was set up to harness.
In honour of this, I pledge to make a contribution to Refuge for each publishing deal secured on behalf of my clients.
